WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Presbyterian College men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2013 season on Sunday with a 3-0 defeat to Elon in Wilmington, N.C.
PC moves to 2-1-0 on the season and will next play Furman in Greenville on Friday at 7 p.m. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. Elon improves to 3-0-1.
All three of Elon's goals came in the first 20:19 of play. James Brace broke through first, taking two short passes from Jason Waterman and Caue Da Sliva before finishing to give the Phoenix a 1-0 lead at 8:27.
Da Silva scored a little over eight minutes later, making use of a long Miguel Salazar pass from midfield for the team's second goal. Brace scored again on a penalty kick in the 21st minute to push the score to its eventual final tally, 3-0.
Josh Carter (Anchorage, Alaska), Nico Fazio (Roswell, Ga.) and Ryan Reeves (Berkhamsted, England) each posted a shot, with Carter's testing Elon goalkeeper Nathan Dean in the opening half.
PC goalkeeper Tyler Beadle (Douglasville, Ga.) made five saves in the contest.
