Longwood Hands PC Home Loss

CLINTON, S.C.- The Longwood Lancers handed the Presbyterian College men's soccer team a 4-1 loss on Saturday afternoon at Martin Stadium.

Anthony Ugorji's hat-trick performance led the Lancers to victory. Zach Crandall had a goal and two assists in the win for the visitors. Mason Lewis (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) scored the goal for the Blue Hose in the final ten minutes of the game on a penalty kick after a Longwood foul.

With the loss, PC falls to 1-10 overall and 0-5 in Big South Conference action. The Lancers get their second conference victory of the season as they improve to 3-8-1 and 2-3 in Big South play.

Ugorji put the Lancers on the board in the 14th minute when he found the back left side of the net on an assist from Finlay Wyatt. The goal was Ugorgi's second of the year.

Ugorji scored again in the 19th minute when PC goalie Connor Behrend (St. Simons Island, Ga.) stepped out of the goal to make a defensive stop and Ugorgi chipped it past him for a 2-0 halftime lead. Zach Crandall was credited with the go-ahead assist on the goal.

After the break, Crandall scored his third goal of the season in the 52nd minute when Dam Campos crossed the ball into the box and Crandall shot left for the goal.

Ugorji scored his third goal of the game and fourth goal of the season in the 62nd minute when Crandall crossed the ball in front of the goal for Ugorgi to head in and get the hat-trick.

Lewis scored on the penalty kick in the 81st minute to pick up his first goal of the season.

The Lancers ended the game outshooting the Blue Hose 16-9. Ugorji was a perfect 3-for-3 on shots for Longwood, while Marten Pajurnurm and Crandall each had three shots apiece. Lewis led PC in shots with three total, while Garrett Glaze (Charleston, S.C.) had two shots in the loss.

Behrend takes the loss in goal for the Blue Hose, recording two saves. Carlos Canas started the game in goal for the Lancers and made one save. Carl Carpenter came in for Canas during the final 20 minutes of the game, only allowing the penalty kick by Lewis.

Presbyterian will head to Campbell on Saturday, Oct. 25 to play the Camels in a 5 p.m. conference battle.
