Women's Basketball Rolls Past Allen in Record-Setting Win, 120-45

CLINTON, S.C. -  The Presbyterian College women's basketball team opened up the 2014-15 home schedule with a dominating 120-45 record-setting win over Allen on Tuesday night at the Templeton Center.

The 120 points scored by PC breaks the school record for most points scored in a game previously set when the Blue Hose beat Newberry 117-40 on December 12, 1993. PC's 75-point win was just two points off the largest margin of victory set when PC defeated Newberry by 77 points. The last time the team surpassed 100 points was in the 101-67 win over Lander on November 19, 2005.

Seven Blue Hose players scored in the double digits in the win, led by a strong showing by the freshman class.

Freshman Allie Wager (Easley, S.C.) recorded her first double-double performance with an impressive 20 points and 15 rebounds. The double-double is the first one for a PC player since Keyonna Allen's 16-point, 12-rebound performance on February 8, 2014 and the first time a PC player has recorded 15 rebounds since Aianna Kelly did so on January 16, 2014.

Freshman Janie Miles (Clemson, S.C.) tallied 18 points, nine assists, and three steals in the win. Freshman Jameka Braden (Shelbyville, Tenn.) had 13 points and four assists, while freshman Tia Mason (San Antonio, Texas) and Allen (Forest Park, Ga.) each scored 12 points for PC. Mason also pulled down nine boards for the Blue Hose. Sophomore Rebecca Walker (Snellville, Ga.) came home with 11 points and redshirt freshman Elizabeth Landers (Greenville, S.C.) registered 10 points and nine rebounds for PC.

PC went 58 percent from the field (47-81), 40 percent from beyond the arc (6-15) and 58.8 percent (20-34) from the charity stripe. The Blue Hose ended the game with 67 rebounds compared to Allen's 25 boards.

In addition to the program scoring record, the Blue Hose set Division I bests in field goals made (47), assists (30), rebounds (67). Miles's nine assists mark the third-most in a Division I game as well.

Latoya Jones led the Yellow Jackets with 16 points. Shekiya Burnside added eight points and S'Nitra Mack recorded 10 rebounds for the visitors.

The Blue Hose (1-2) got out to a commanding 18-0 lead before the Yellow Jackets (0-7) got on the board with 14:50 to play in the first half. PC continued to pour it on the visitors as they took a 43-point, 66-23 lead at halftime. Wagner led PC in the first half with 14 points. Miles drained three treys en route to 11 points and also dished out seven first-half assists.

PC scored 12 unanswered points at the start of the second half to extend their lead as they continued to control the momentum for the remainder of the game.

The Blue Hose hit the road this weekend when they take on Western Carolina on Saturday afternoon for a 3:30 p.m. tipoff.
