Men's Basketball Blows Past Bob Jones

CLINTON, S.C.- The Presbyterian College men's basketball team dominated Bob Jones University with a commanding 88-39 victory over the Bruins on Saturday afternoon at the Templeton Center.   

The Blue Hose (3-4) got out to a 45-19 first-half lead over the visitors, led by Jordan Downing (Huntersville, N.C.), who scored four 3-pointers, two field goals, and was 2-for-2 from the foul line en route to 18 first-half points.

PC controlled the game from the tip and scored 14 unanswered points during the final 10 minutes of the first half to pull away from the Bruins (3-7). William Truss (Vestavia Hills, Ala.) added 10 points in the first half, and Markus Terry (Johns Creek, Ga.) dished out four assists. Janeil Jenkins (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Terry each had five points apiece in the first half.

Though he did not score in the first half, Austin Anderson (Piedmont, S.C.) poured in 16 second-half points, including four treys. The Blue Hose scored 43 second-half points, including a 20-point run, and saw some solid minutes from players off the bench.

Downing finished the contest with a game-high 28 points, while Truss ended the game with 12 points and five rebounds. Ruben Arroyo-Felix (Richmond, Va.) added six points and two steals, while Davon Bell (Charlotte, N.C.), Jenkins, and Downing ended the game with three assists apiece. Ed Drew (Suffolk, Va.) also pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.

Kyle Turner led the visiting Bruins with 18 points. Marshall Riddle added 11 points and three assists for Bob Jones.

PC finished the game shooting 54.1% (33-61) from the floor, 52.4% (11-21) from beyond the arc, and 73.3% (11-15) from the foul line. The Bruins were 25.9% (14-54) from the floor, 18.2% (4-22) from 3-point range, and 77.8% (7-9) from the charity stripe.

The Blue Hose kick off December action when they hit the road on Wednesday Dec. 3 to take on Wofford at 7 p.m. The team will return home on Saturday Dec. 6 when they host UNC Greensboro.
