BOONE, N.C.- The Presbyterian College men's soccer team fell to Appalachian State 0-4 in Boone, N.C. on Friday night.
Jeremy Tshongo, Austin Stamey, Alex Beranger, and Stanley Broaden each had one goal apiece for the winning Mountaineers.
Appalachian State (1-3-1) got on the scoreboard in the 13th minute when Broaden scored from the left side off an assist from teammate Keegan Tanaka. The Mountaineers were up 1-0 over the Blue Hose (1-2-0) at the halftime break.
Beranger scored the Moutaineers' second goal of the game in the 60th minute off a header to the top right corner from Alex Herbst's corner kick.
App. State scored again in the 77th minute when Tshongo buried the ball in the left corner off a crossing pass from teammate Trey Hemphill.
Stamey scored the final point of the game in the 83rd minute when Herbst made a pass in front of the goal line and Stamey tapped it in.
PC's Tommy Erwood (Leawood, Kan./Blue Valley North H.S.) led the offensive attack with two shots, while Josh Carter (Anchorage, Alaska/Darlington School) and Cade Crow (Liberty Mo./Liberty Senior H.S.) each registered one shot for the Hose. The Mountaineers held a 17-4 shot advantage, as well as a 5-3 corner kick advantage over the Blue Hose.
Johnny Archer (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic H.S.) took the loss in goal for the Blue Hose, registering three saves throughout the game.
Presbyterian will be back in action on Sept. 16 when they take on Georgia State in Atlanta at 6 p.m.
