CLINTON, S.C. – Former Presbyterian College baseball player Alex Loftin (Denver, N.C.) will continue his playing career in France for the La Rochelle Les Boucaniers, the organization announced recently.
Loftin, a 2011 business administration graduate and middle infielder, will head to the French west coast city of La Rochelle by way of a partnership between the club and the Trinidad (Co.) Triggers of the independent Pecos League. Loftin played for the Triggers in 2012 and 2013 before moving to the Taos (N.M.) Blizzard in 2013 and 2014. Last season, Loftin hit .287 in 39 games with nine RBI and will leave the Pecos League with a .299 career average.
“I'm confident that Alex will make a big splash in the league,” said former Triggers manager JD Droddy. “[He] did a great job for the Triggers and it is a pleasure to help [him] get this opportunity in France.”
Loftin hit .353 for PC as a senior with a .389 on-base percentage after transferring from Rockingham Community College. His contract with Les Boucaniers runs from mid-March to mid-October.
