ELON, N.C.- The Presbyterian College men's tennis team dropped a tough match to Elon on Saturday afternoon, 6-1.
The Blue Hose fall to 10-2 overall and look ahead to a match on Friday, Feb. 20, against East Carolina at the Templeton Tennis Courts. Elon improves to 3-6 on the year and hosts Winthrop next Friday at 2 p.m.
PC won the doubles point to start the match 1-0 with a win by Ben Kelley (Weaverville, N.C.) and Ryan Miller (Norcross, Ga.) at No. 2 doubles, 8-4, and a win by Lukas Luckemeier (Greven, Germany) and Brandon Mills (Lilburn, Ga.) at flight 3, 8-2.
Elon went on to sweep PC in all six singles matches.
Stefan Formann defeated Miller at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-2, and Robert Lindgren knocked off Danny Bruce (Marietta, Ga.) 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 2 singles spot. Alexander Lykou (Aarhus, Denmark) was beaten by Jordan Kaufman at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-4, and Diego Manzanas (Madrid, Spain) was bested by Josh Luck at the No. 4 spot.
Kelley and Alejandro Bejar (Madrid, Spain) were beaten in three sets at No. 5 and 6 singles. Kowalski knocked off Kelley, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, and Juan Madrid beat Bejar 7-5, 3-6, 6-1.
