CLINTON, S.C.- The Presbyterian College men's tennis team continued its winning ways Wednesday with a 6-1 victory against NJIT in a non-conference match at the Templeton Tennis Courts.
The win improves PC to 13-5 on the year. The Blue Hose will look to extend its winning streak to three matches when it plays at Longwood on Saturday at 10 a.m. and at Liberty on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Highlanders drop to 8-6 with the loss.
The young doubles pairing of Brandon Mills (Lilburn, Ga.) and Lukas Luckemeier (Greven, Germany) improved to 6-3 on the year via an 8-3 victory against Richard Rangga and Luka Kaic at flight 3.
Joel Roberts (Summerville, S.C.) and Diego Manzanas (Madrid, Spain) were 8-4 winners against Andres Alban and Jan Cimman at No. 2 doubles.
NJIT's Markus Schultz and Arnaud Holl defeated Ryan Miller (Norcross, Ga.) and Ben Kelley (Weaverville, N.C.) at the No. 1 spot, 8-3. The Blue Hose headed into singles competition with a 1-0 advantage over the Highlanders.
Manzanas beat Alban at line 2 in a comeback victory for PC's highest-placed win of the day, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.
Alejandro Bejar (Madrid, Spain) remained steady on the year as he took the match over Holl at No. 3, 6-4, 6-1 to improve to 15-1 on the season.
Mills improved to 8-3 on the season when he got the win at No. 4 singles over Cimman, 2-6, 6-0, 6-2.
The backend of PC's singles lineup earned wins in straight sets, as Danny Bruce (Marietta, Ga.) took the match on court 5, 6-4, 7-6 from Rangga, and Kelley defeated Kaic 6-1, 6-0 at line 6 to go to 10-2 on the year.
Schultz, NJIT's No. 1 singles competitor, beat Roberts 6-4, 6-4 on court 1 for the team's only win of the day.
