BLACKSBURG, VA.- The Presbyterian College men's tennis team dropped a Big South Conference match to Radford, 4-3, on Saturday night at Virginia Tech's indoor Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
With the loss, PC falls to 14-7 on the year and 1-3 in Big South action. Radford goes to 5-7 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
The Blue Hose secured the doubles point to begin the contest, after winning all three of the doubles showdowns. Alexander Lykou (Aarhus, Denmark) and Brandon Mills (Lilburn, Ga.) bested the No. 1 team from Radford of Patrick O'Keefe and Javier Waase, 8-2, Ben Kelley (Weaverville, N.C.) and Joel Roberts (Summerville, S.C.) defeated Janken Thoen and Jose Moreno Manzano 8-4 at flight 2, and Danny Bruce (Marietta, Ga.) and Diego Manzanas (Madrid, Spain) earned an 8-7 (7-3) win against Michiel Meekers and Nikhil Mannepalli at No. 3 doubles.
In singles, Kelley defeated Radford's Samuel Taylor 6-3, 6-0 at line 6 to push PC's lead to 2-0.
Alejandro Bejar (Madrid, Spain) lost to Meekers at No. 3 singles to make the score 2-1.
Manzanas beat Mannepalli at line 2, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 for PC's other singles win of the match to put PC ahead 3-1.
Radford went on to win singles points at lines five, one, and four to come back and win.
Thoen bested Bruce in a tough battle at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 0-6, 7-6 (7-4), O'Keefe defeated Lykou 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 at line one, and Moreno beat Mills in the deciding match at No. 4, 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (7-5).
