CLINTON, S.C.- The Presbyterian College men's tennis team lost to SC State 5-2 on Saturday morning at the Templeton Tennis Courts.
After three weeks off from competition due to less than cooperative weather, PC drops to 10-3 on the year. The Blue Hose will take on Wright State and Clemson tomorrow. SC State improves to 6-1.
In doubles, Lukas Luckemeier (Greven, Germany) and Brandon Mills (Lilburn, Ga.) got an 8-7 win over Jakub Vitek and Stanislav Baco at flight 3. At No. 1 doubles, Alexander Lykou (Aarhus, Denmark) and Joel Roberts (Summerville, S.C.) lost 8-4 to the Bulldogs' No. 1 duo.
Ben Kelley (Weaverville, N.C.) and Ryan Miller (Norcross, Ga.) saved three match points to get an 8-7 win over Vladyslav Yanchenko and Soufiane Mouline at No. 2 doubles and give PC a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
Alejandro Bejar (Madrid, Spain) was PC's only singles win of the day as the freshman earned a 6-3, 6-4 win over Vitek at No. 5 singles to improve to 10-1 on the year.
Miller dropped a 6-3, 6-2 match at No. 1 to Rodney Carey, while Lykou also fell in two sets to Martin Firgura, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 2 singles.
Yanchenko defeated Danny Bruce (Marietta, Ga.) in three sets, 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 at line 3, while Mouline knocked off Diego Manzanas (Madrid, Spain) at No. 4, 6-3, 6-4 and Edgar Diaz beat Kelley in three sets, 5-7, 6-3, 10-3 at No. 6.
