PC Heads to Coastal Carolina for Big South Matchup

Blue Hose Fall 61-47 at High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team fell to High Point 61-47 Saturday afternoon at the Millis Center. In the loss PC forced 29 turnovers and recorded 14 steals, the most in both categories since November 18, 2013 against Columbia College.

The Blue Hose fell to 13-9, 9-4 in the Big South Conference, while the Panthers went to 8-13, 7-5 on the season. PC returns home for a 7 p.m. contest against Charleston Southern on Tuesday.

Janie Miles (Clemson, S.C.) led the Blue Hose with 11 points and added three offensive rebounds, while Aianna Kelly (Newport News, Va.) powered PC with seven assists, five rebounds and added 10 points.

Kaylah Keys led all scorers with 23 points and pulled down five rebounds, while Emma Bockrath added 10 points and four assists for High Point.

High Point started the game up 8-2 before Rebecca Walker (Snellville, Ga.) converted a jumper and cut the lead in half, 8-4. The Panthers then went on an 8-0 run before Miles knocked down a three-pointer while High Point led 14-7. Kaycie Reffner (Altoona, Pa.) ended the first quarter with two made free throws as the Panthers led 18-9 after the first. PC forced High Point into seven turnovers in the first period.

Allie Wagner (Easley, S.C.) provided the Blue Hose with their first five points of the second quarter as High Point led 22-14. The two teams matched baskets as the Panthers went into the locker room with a 29-21 lead. PC pulled down seven offensive rebounds and forced 13 turnovers in the first half.

Kelly gave the Blue Hose their first four points of the third quarter before Miles made a layup and cut the Panthers lead to 33-27. High Point went on a 7-0 run before Salina Virola (Huntsville, Ala.) converted a jumper and cut the lead to 43-32. Miles converted a layup that ended the half as the Panthers took a 47-34 lead into the final period.

High Point started the final period on a 10-3 run to push the Panther lead to 57-37 with 3:41 left in the game. The Blue Hose added 11 points after the stretch.

PC held a 22-10 points in the paint edge, a 22-10 points off turnovers advantage and pulled down 14 offensive rebounds in the game.
