High Point, N.C. – The High Point Panthers stayed unbeaten in Big South play at 13-0 with a three set victory over the Blue Hose on Saturday afternoon in the Mills Center. The Panthers took the sets with 25-12, 25-8 and 25-18 scores.
Scoring the Match:
Set One: PC 12 – HPU 25
The Blue Hose and Panthers went back and forth to an 8-8 tie before High Point took control with a 10-2 run to make it 18-10. Allie Wright had a kill to cut it to 18-11 but HPU would finish the set off with a 7-1 run to take the 25-12 win of set one.
Set Two: PC 8 – HPU 25
High Point got out to a 5-3 lead and controlled the set the rest of the way in route to a 25-8 win.
Set Three: PC 18 – HPU 25
The Blue Hose made the third set interesting as they led by as many as three at 10-7 following an Ashton Stewart kill. High Point responded with a 6-1 run to make it 13-11. Caroline Henderson and Erin Eulitz would make back to back kills to tie it back up at 13 apiece. The Panthers would finish on a 12-5 run to pull away and win the third and final set by a 25-18 score.
Player of the Match:
Eulitz, a sophomore outside hitter, finished the match with a team high nine kills and added six digs. Daley Gosnell finished with a team high 18 digs and Jaclyn Brewington led the way with 12 assists.
Stats of the Match:
The Panthers led the Blue Hose by a 38-24 margin in total kills and had a 48-40 margin in total digs over the three sets.
Notables:
Three different players recorded multiple assists in the contest. Brewington (12), Sierra Jones (8) and Gosnell (2) combined for the 22 assists.
For the Record:
The Panthers improve to 20-6 and 13-0 in the Big South while PC drops to 5-21 and 2-10 in Big South play.
