Men’s Tennis Tops Jacksonville State, 4-0, to Sweep ASU Invitational

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Presbyterian College men's tennis team wrapped up play in the Alabama State Invitational with a 4-0 win over Jacksonville State on Saturday to finish the two-day event with a 3-0 record. The Blue Hose go to 5-2 on the season, while the Gamecocks fall for the first time this season and drop to 5-1.

PC took the doubles points with victories on courts one and three. Ben Kelley and Joel Roberts teamed up for a 6-3 win at No. 1 and Diego Manzanas and Jaime Castillo-Lopez took No. 3, 7-5, to put PC in front 1-0. The match on No. 2 was tied at 6-6 when the Blue Hose clinched the doubles victory so it would go unfinished.

The Blue Hose recorded wins in three of the six singles matches en route to the 4-0 victory. Manzanas earned a three-set win at No. 2, 6-4, 1-6, 6-1. Alejandro Bejar claimed a three-set win at No. 4, 6-3, 0-6, 7-5 and Kelley continued his strong play with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 5. The remaining three matches went unfinished, all in the third set.

The Blue Hose return to action next Friday, hosting Furman at 3 p.m. at the Templeton Tennis Courts.
