CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men's tennis team fell to Furman, 4-3, on Friday afternoon in a match decided by the final match of the day, coming on court three. The Blue Hose drop to 5-4 on the year, while the Paladins improved to 6-3.

The Blue Hose claimed the doubles point against the Paladins for the second straight season. Joel Roberts and Ben Kelley took court one, 6-3, while Alexander Lykou and Brandon Mills won by a score of 6-4 on court two. PC made it a sweep with a 6-2 victory on court three by Jaime Castillo-Lopez and Diego Manzanas.

Singles proved to be a battle with both sides proving tough. Furman tied the match at 1-1 with a win on court two but Kelley continued his strong play, winning 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 to put PC back in front. The Paladins then took wins on courts one and three to take the lead at 3-2 with two matches to play.

Roberts tied it up at three apiece, grinding his way to a 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) victory on court six. Court three, between PC's Alejandro Bejar and Furman's Alex Steryous, proved to be the decisive match of the day. Bejar took the opening set, 7-6 (7-4), but Steryous managed to take the second, 6-4, to spend it to a third. Ultimately, Steryous prevailed in the final frame, 6-2, to take the match and give Furman the 4-3 victory.

PC faces a quick turnaround, heading to Davidson tomorrow for a 1 p.m. match with the Wildcats.
