CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men's tennis team recorded its fourth straight victory with a 5-2 win over UNC Asheville on Monday afternoon at the Templeton Tennis Courts in Clinton, S.C. The Blue Hose improve to 11-9 overall and 3-0 in the Big South, while UNC Asheville drops to 7-11 overall and 1-5 in the Big South.

The Blue Hose claimed the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. Brandon Mills and Alexander Lykou recorded 6-2 at No. 2 and Diego Manzanas and Jaime Castillo-Lopez followed with a 6-2 win on court three. Asheville prevented PC from sweeping with a 6-4 win on court one.

PC then took four of the six matches in singles play en route to the 5-2 victory. Manzanas got it started with a nice 6-1, 6-2 victory on court three to give PC a 2-0 lead. Asheville answered by taking court one but the Blue Hose claimed each of the next three matches to clinch the victory. Alejandro Bejar earned a 6-3, 6-3 victory on court five and Castillo-Lopez followed with a 6-4, 6-3 victory on court six to clinch the match.

Ben Kelley then claimed his 14th singles win of the season with a 6-1, 6-2 win on court four to make it a 5-1 PC lead. Mills dropped a close first set, 7-6, but rallied to take set two, 6-2, to force a third set. Asheville's Josh Swindler was able to take the final set tiebreaker, 1-0 (10-4), in the final match of the day.

PC faces a key stretch this weekend, taking on Radford, Liberty and Longwood on consecutive days beginning Friday.
