Asheville, N.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team was outlasted by UNC Asheville in a five-set battle on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs defeated the Blue Hose 21-25, 25-20, 16-25, 25-19, and 15-13.

PC was led by a trio of freshman on Saturday afternoon. Erin Cooke tallied a team-high 25 assists, picked up 11 kills, and had nine digs, one shy of her fourth triple-double of the season. Lauren Talbert also collected a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs. Trinity Williams led the Blue Hose with 13 kills and a .478 hitting percentage. Sophomore Sydney De Jong recorded a team-high six total blocks and added eight kills. Classmate Taylor Farmer led PC with 18 digs.

In the first set, the Blue Hose and the Bulldogs would find themselves in a battle. UNC Asheville got the quick lead, but PC would tie the set at eight. The Blue Hose would then take a slight edge, only for the Bulldogs to even things up at 15. The first set would be tied once more at 18 all, and then the Blue Hose took a lead and would take the first set 25-21.

PC and UNC Asheville also started tight in the third set of the match. The Blue Hose led only by two when a 7-1 run exploded their lead to 17-9. This cushion would be more than enough for PC to hold on to the third set, even with a UNC Asheville rally at the end.
