Presbyterian Rallies Over Longwood, 4-3, on Friday

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men's tennis won the last three singles match of the day to rally past Longwood, 4-3, on Friday afternoon at the Templeton Tennis Courts. The Blue Hose even their Big South record at 2-2, while LWU falls to 2-4 in league play.

PC claimed the doubles point with a sweep of the three matches. Daniel Stenger and Will Baird teamed up for a 6-1 win at No. 3 and Alexander Lykou and Brandon Mills followed with a 6-3 win at No. 1. Jaime Castillo-Lopez and Alejandro Bejar made it a clean sweep with a 7-6 win at No. 2, as PC went ahead 1-0.

Singles saw Longwood come away with wins in the first three matches to finish, coming on courts one, four and six, to go ahead 3-1. PC rallied from there, as Bejar pulled of a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 3. Mills followed with a three-set win at No. 2, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, to tie the match at 3-3.

The match hinged on court five, as Stenger and LWU's Jorge Godoy faced a third set after splitting the two, each by a score of 6-2. Stenger emerged victorious, taking the final frame, 6-2, to remain unbeaten in conference play at 4-0 and give PC the 4-3 victory.

The Blue Hose return to action on Saturday, hosting Radford at noon.
