CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men's soccer team (0-8-0) scored a pair of quick goals against Mercer (5-2-2) to tie the game with less than 20 minutes remaining, but the Bears regained the lead off a corner kick in the 81st minute and picked up a 3-2 victory at Martin Stadium on Tuesday night.

How It Happened

The Blue Hose were carded in the 17th minute to set up a free kick just past midfield for the visitors. Roberto Arteaga took the kick, Romario Thompson headed it across goal and Josh Harrison finished it to put Mercer up 1-0.

At the half, PC held a 6-2 advantage on shots and 4-1 lead on corner kicks.

Mercer extended their lead in the 71st minute with another double-assisted goal. Josh Harrison crossed the ball from the left side into the box to Trevor Martineau who played it down with his chest to Leo Toledo Jr. who shot it off Jan Hoffelner's leg and into the goal to make it 2-0.

The Blue Hose replied with a fury and scored a pair of quick goals to tie the game at 2-2. Clement Vannier scored his second of the season in the 72nd minute with a header into the side netting off a cross from Harry Abell to make it 2-1. Sergio Pinto then tied it in the 74th minute with a heavily contested header in the box off a cross from Jordan Barbara.

PC kept the pressure up and both teams continued to see quality chances. Hoffelner saved a shot at 80:40 to give Mercer their fourth corner kick of the second half. Toledo Jr. took the kick and Martineau headed it in to give Mercer the 3-2 win.
