Notes
All-Conference Honors...
The Blue Hose had four players earn post season awards from the Big South Conference earlier in the week. Senior Erin Eulitz and sophomore Erin Cooke were selected to the Big South Second Team, while sophomore Trinity Williams and junior Allie Wright earned Honorable Mention honors. Additionally, Williams was selected to the All-Academic Team. The five post season awards are the most Presbyterian has received since joining the Big South.
Scouting the Bulldogs...
UNC Asheville won four of its last six regular season tilts to secure its fifth consecutive trip to the Big South Championship. The Bulldogs are led by senior Julia Borges, who was named to the All-Big South First Team. Borges paces the Asheville attack and ranks in the top-5 of the conference with more than 3.0 kills/set this season.
The Bulldogs own an 18-6 advantage in the series between the two schools since Presbyterian moved to Division I in 2007. Friday marks the first time that PC and UNC Asheville have met in the Big South Championship.
First Meeting with Asheville...
UNC Asheville erased a 2-1 deficit to defeat Presbyterian in five sets back on Nov. 2 in Asheville. Sophomores Trinity Williams (19 kills) and Lauren Talbert (17 kills) led the PC attack, while Julia Borges tallied a match-high 23 kills for the Bulldogs. The Blue Hose outhit UNC Asheville .219 to .160, marking the only time this season PC has outhit its opponent but lost.
PC's Big South Championship History...
PC is making its fourth trip to the Big South Championship and first since 2014. The Blue Hose are 1-3 in Big South Championship matches and have made one semifinal appearance, back in 2012.
PC Against the 2019 Tournament Field...
Presbyterian went 0-1 this season against its quarterfinal opponent, UNC Asheville, dropping a tight five-set decision to the Bulldogs in Asheville on Nov. 2.
The only other team in the field the Blue Hose did not defeat during the regular season was top seed Winthrop, who knocked off PC twice on the way to a 14-0 conference mark. The Eagles are the lone team in this year's field that Presbyterian has previously played in the Big South Championship. The two split those two meetings, with the Blue Hose winning a quarterfinal match in 2012, and Winthrop taking a quarterfinal contest in 2014.
PC split its regular season meetings with two seed High Point and six seed Charleston Southern, and beat three seed Campbell in four sets on Oct. 19 in Clinton in the lone regular season meeting between the two.
