Scoring The Game
The first half was tight with six lead changes and two ties. Johnson sank a pair of free throws and sank a three to give PC an early 5-2 lead, 7:17 on the clock. The Fighting Illini replied with a 7-0 run over the next minute to regain the lead, but a jumper from Alessia Capley and three from Jade Compton gave the Blue Hose a 10-9 lead, 5:16 to play. Cierra Rice sank a three on their last possession to give Illinois an 18-14 lead after the first quarter.

After a Tess Santos three, Johnson stole the ball and converted a fast-break layup to cap a quick 5-0 run and see PC regain the lead, 19-18, with 9:14 to play. Tionna Carter scored twice over that stretch, the last of which made it a four-point game, 27-23, with just over a minute to play. However a 7-0 run by the home team with five points by Ali Andrews and a buzzer-beating layup from Kennedi Myles made it 34-23 game at the break.

Presbyterian cut the lead to fewer than 10 points twice in the second half, but Illinois continued to counter every scoring run. Riley Hemm sank a three to cut the lead to eight, 53-45, with 7:09 to play in the fourth. However, the Fighting Illini hit three consecutive three-pointers to spark a 16-0 run over the next five minutes before a jumper from Compton ended the drought.
