Notes
Last Time Out...
The Blue Hose split their two road tilts last weekend, knocking off USC Upstate in four sets before falling to UNC Asheville in five, the first five-set match of the season for PC. Sophomores Erin Cooke, Lauren Talbert and Trinity Williams each recorded double-doubles in both contests. The win over the Spartans halted a four-match skid in the series for Presbyterian.
Scouting the Buccaneers...
Charleston Southern enters Friday's match having lost three straight. Senior Brooke Monssen ranks second in the conference in kills/set (4.1) and had a match-high 12 when these two teams met back in October. Freshman setter Emilee Karelse is second in the Big South in both total assists (691) and assists/set (8.1). As a whole, the CSU attack ranks second in the conference with a combined .205 hitting percentage.
Earlier This Season...
PC and Charleston Southern have already met once this season, with the Blue Hose edging the Buccaneers 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-23) back on Oct. 4 in Clinton, to snap a three-match skid in the series. Cooke and Talbert led the Presbyterian attack with 11 kills apiece in the contest, and Williams chipped in nine while hitting .438. PC is looking to sweep the season series from Charleston Southern for the first time since 2014.
Win and You're In...
With a win on Friday night, the Blue Hose can clinch a spot in the 2019 Big South Conference Championship. Since joining the conference in 2008, PC has reached the Big South Conference Championship three times, making it three straight years from 2012-14. This year's tournament is set for Nov. 22-24, and will be hosted by Winthrop in Rock Hill, S.C.
