Johnson Paces PC in Road Win at Charleston Southern

Charleston, S.C. – Trinity Johnson recorded 11 points, eight assists and seven rebounds to lead the Presbyterian College women's basketball team to the 67-46 Big South win over Charleston Southern on Tuesday night in Charleston, S.C. Tierra Steede posted a double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) for the Bucs.

Scoring The Game
Charleston Southern scored on their first two possessions to take an early 4-0 lead at 9:03. Johnson then sank a three at 8:45 to get PC on the board, and Tionna Carter gave the visitors their first lead, 5-4, with a jumper at 8:04. The game was then back-and-forth until a three from Kacie Hall at 6:16 gave PC a 10-8 lead. The senior hit another three during a 7-0 run that helped give Presbyterian an 18-11 lead after 10 minutes.

The Blue Hose opened the second on a 14-0 run and connected on 71.4 percent (10-of-14) of their shooting to blow the game open during the quarter. Charleston Southern only sank 2-of-11 (.182) field goals as PC outscored them 26-6 headed into halftime. Jade Compton had nine points in the quarter, while Tess Santos hit two threes for six points.

The third quarter saw just 21 combined points as Charleston Southern shot 35.3 percent compared to PC's 27.3 percent. The Bucs cut into the lead by three points, 53-29, but threes from Santos and Johnson helped fend off the rally.

Hall, Alessia Capley and Riley Hemm each hit fourth quarter threes as PC improved to 11-of-22 (.500) for the game compared to 1-of-12 (.083) for CSU. Despite a 15-7 run by the Bucs over the final seven minutes of the game, Presbyterian hung on to pick up their second straight Big South win, 67-46.

Trinity Johnson finished with 11 points, eight assists and seven rebounds to lead PC and finish in double figures for the 16th time this season.

Notables
- The 44 points Presbyterian scored in the first half were the most points they've had in a half since scoring 47 against Brevard on December 21.
- Presbyterian had nine different players score, which was a season-best against a DI opponent. Ten players scored in the team's win over Brevard (DIII).
- The 11 made threes were the most for PC since sinking 11 against Wofford on November 26.
- The 25-of-48 (.521) shooting was the best offensive outing for PC since the season opener at SC State when they shot 27-of-42 (.643).
- The 19 assists were a season-high for PC and the most since recording 16 against Hampton on February 26, 2019.

Stats of the Game
Presbyterian connected on 25-48 (.521) field goals and 11-22 (.500) threes compared to the Bucs' 19-60 (.317) and 1-12 (.083) shooting. The Blue Hose also led in rebounds, 39-32, and points off turnovers, 20-9.
