Tweed's Walk-Off Blast Gives PC 3-1 Win Over NSU

CLINTON, S.C. – Jaiden Tweed launched a two-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift Presbyterian College to a rain-shortened 3-1 victory over Norfolk State at the PC Softball Complex on Saturday.

FINAL SCORE: Presbyterian 3, Norfolk State 1 (F/6)
LOCATION: PC Softball Complex
RECORDS: Presbyterian (2-1) | Norfolk State (0-1)
WP: Jenna Greene (2-0) | LP: Skylar Swain (0-1)

NOTABLES
- Tweed reached all four times she came to the plate, with a career-high three hits and a walk.
- The long ball was the first of her collegiate career, and marked PC's first walk-off home run since Presley Bissett hit a three-run walk-off homer against Youngstown State in 2017.
- Freshman Jenna Greene tossed a complete game to earn her second victory in as many starts. The righty yielded one run on two hits with a career-high 11 strikeouts, one shy of PC's DI era single-game record.
- Greene's scoreless streak to begin her career was snapped at 12.2 innings after allowing a two-out run in the sixth.
- With heavy rain falling late in the contest, it was decided after the fifth inning that the game would be shortened to six innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Norfolk State loaded the bases in the top of the first, but a pair of strikeouts helped Greene escape unscathed.
- During the bottom of the first, heavy snowfall forced the game into a two-hour and 24-minute delay.
- Once play resumed, the Blue Hose loaded the bases in their half of the first, but were turned away.
- The game remained scoreless until the home half of the fourth. Alexis Meadows opened the inning with an infield single, was sacrificed to second, moved to third on another infield single, and then scored on a Hunter Meadows sacrifice fly.
- With the tying run on second and two outs in the top of the sixth, NSU pinch-hitter Lily Potter singled to left field to plate Mia Holmes and even the contest at 1-1.
- Courtney White singled up the middle to begin PC's half of the sixth, and Tweed followed with her walk-off blast to give Presbyterian the 3-1 victory.
