"I thought there was progress made today by our team as a whole," commented head coach Joel Roberts. "The team competed hard against a solid Winthrop team. I hope this wasn't my senior last match and I hope everyone stays healthy in this uncertain time." 

HOW IT HAPPENED
-  Winthrop got off to a fast start with a 6-2 win at the No. 2 doubles spot and followed that up with a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles to get the point from the Blue Hose.
- PC's duo of Ella Rowley and Samantha Calais led at No. 3 doubles by the score of 5-3 before the match was called as Winthrop had already clinched the point.
- The hosts grabbed a straight-set win at No. 1 and No. 2 singles to push the advantage out to 3-0
- The Eagles grabbed a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles to clinch the match on Thursday over the Blue Hose. Winthrop added a victory at No. 5 singles to take a 5-0 lead in the match.
- Sophomore Zeba Jamal battled back after dropping the opening set to earn a three-set victory at the No. 4 singles.
- Senior Katie Thompson earned a straight-set win at No. 6 singles to push the final to a 5-2 Winthrop win on Thursday afternoon.

NOTABLES
- With her singles win, senior Katie Thompson tied the PC career Big South singles mark for wins with her 14th win in league matches. She tied Tracy Johnson who also had 14 during her career which spanned from 2016-19.
- Sophomore Zeba Jamal earned her first career win at Presbyterian with the victory at No. 4 singles.

UP NEXT
The Blue Hose were slated to face Western Carolina on Friday in Clinton however the Big South announced that all athletic competition for league members is suspended through Sunday, March 15, 2020. PC will next be in action on Wednesday, March 18 as the Blue Hose travels to Spartanburg to face the Spartans.
