BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Senior Erin Cooke was one of three players to record at least 10 kills on Saturday afternoon but the Presbyterian College volleyball team was unable to get past Gardner-Webb falling (22-25,22-25,25-23,21-25) at Paul Porter Arena. Cooke totaled 11 kills, 17 assists, and nine digs in the setback. Freshman Rylee Moorehead recorded 11 kills and Paige Cairns added 10 to the PC attack.

Notables
- Cooke paced the Blue Hose once again offensively with 11 kills, 17 assists, and nine digs as she finished one dig shy of her second triple-double in as many matches. The senior also added five blocks and three aces.
- On the weekend, Cooke totaled 27 kills (3.0/set), 32 assists (3.56/set), 19 digs (2.11/set), eight blocks (0.89/set) and five aces.
- Moorehead totaled 11 kills along with 15 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. She also recorded three aces in Saturday's contest.
- Paige Cairns had a strong offensive performance on Saturday with a season-high 10 kills, while also adding four digs and a block.
- Sierra Jones along with Cooke led the Blue Hose with 17 helpers apiece.
- Sophomore Anna Hewitt recorded 22 digs in the match. It's her seventh match of the 2021 season with at least 20 digs.
- Fifth Year senior Allie Wright led the Blue Hose defense with six blocks as she also added four kills and an ace to the offense.
- As a team, PC recorded 10+ aces for the third time in 2021 with the 10 they had against Gardner-Webb.
How it Happened
- After an early 4-2 burst from PC, the two teams went back and forth with the match staying within a point at 12-11. The Blue Hose rattled off three straight points before a 6-0 run by the Runnin' Bulldogs gave them the 17-15 advantage. Presbyterian answered with a 5-1 burst of its own before a 7-2 spurt by the hosts gave them the set victory at 25-22.
- Both teams traded points early on in the second set with 10 ties resulting in a 15-15 match. Gardner-Webb and PC traded mini bursts in the set before a 4-0 close from the Runnin' Bulldogs resulted in a 25-22 set victory on Saturday.
- The hosts jumped out to an early 11-5 forcing a Blue Hose timeout. PC used a 9-3 run out of the timeout to even the set at 14. Gardner-Webb pushed out to a 20-17 lead before PC responded to even it at 20. The Blue Hose closed with a pair of aces to take set three 25-23.
- Gardner-Webb raced out to an early 8-3 lead before the Blue Hose battled back to a two-point deficit at 13-11 forcing a Runnin' Bulldogs timeout. PC evened it up at 14, 17, and 18 following quick bursts by the hosts which set up a race to 25. With the match even at 18, PC was unable to overcome a 5-0 run as Gardner-Webb hung on for the 25-21 set and match victory.
