Volleyball Wraps Up Regular Season With Pair of Road Matches

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College Volleyball team closes out its 2021 regular season schedule beginning on Friday with a 6 pm match against Campbell in Buies Creek. The final regular season match is slated for 1 pm on Saturday afternoon at Hampton with the matchup being shown on ESPN+.

Last Time Out
The Presbyterian College volleyball team was unable to grab a win on senior day as they dropped a four-setter to Winthrop 3-1 (20-25, 8-25, 25-21, 15-25). Erin Cooke posted a double-double on Saturday afternoon with 28 assists and 10 digs.
 
The Presbyterian College volleyball team took home a 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-22) win in their penultimate home match on Friday evening against Gardner-Webb inside a joyful Templeton Center. Cooke totaled 39 assists in the win over the Runnin' Bulldogs.

Last Matchup vs Campbell
The Presbyterian College volleyball team fell to the Campbell Camels on Saturday afternoon 3-1 (18-25, 25-22, 19-25, 19-25) inside a raucous Templeton Center. Erin Cooke scored a near triple-double with 10 kills, 14 assists, and eight digs.
 
Last Matchup vs Hampton
The Presbyterian College volleyball team won their opening conference match 3-1 (25-19, 25-22, 26-28, 26-24) over Hampton Friday night at the Templeton Center.  Kinsey Bailey had a match-high 20 assists to go with nine digs. Erin Cooke recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 17 assists.
 
Cooke Triple-Doubles...
Senior Erin Cooke has totaled six triple-doubles on the season which is currently tied for the lead amongst all NCAA DI volleyball players. Cooke's last triple-double came on October 30 against Radford with 12 kills, 44 assists, and 10 digs in the five-set victory. In her six triple-doubles this season, Cooke is averaging 14 kills, 22 assists, and 14 digs per match.
 
The Opponent...
Campbell begins the weekend with a 17-9 record as the Fighting Camels look for the season sweep of Presbyterian after defeating the Blue Hose in four sets in Clinton. Campbell is vying for the No. 1 seed in next week's Big South tournament hosting by Campbell as they sit a game out of first in the standings entering play Friday night. Melody Paige is fourth in the league with a .309 hitting percentage as she's totaled 201 kills so far this year. Lailah Green paces Campbell with 262 kills averaging 2.67 per set. Claranne Fechter is leading the Campbell defense with 459 digs which ranks second in the Big South. As a team, Campbell is limiting opponents to a .155 hitting percentage which is best in the conference. In the September 25th match in Clinton, Sarah Colla led the offense with 11 kills as Madee Miner had a team-high 17 helpers. Fechter had a team-high 19 digs in the win.

Hampton begins the weekend with a 2-19 record as the Pirates look to avenge a September 24th setback when they dropped the four-set conference opening match to PC. Gabby Calloway leads the Hampton attack with 191 kills while Clara Smith has 186 kills in her stat line thru 21 matches. Brooke Irvin leads Hampton with 408 assists. Jessica Pugh paces the defense with 338 digs. Isis Black leads the Pirates in blocks with 56. In the September 24th match in Clinton, Smith had a team-high 12 kills while Irvin led the way with 17 helpers and Pugh totaled a team-best 16 digs.

Conference Leaders
PC remains second in the league in service aces per set at 1.84 this season. Freshman Rylee Moorhead leads the Blue Hose with 35 aces, while fifth year senior Allie Wright has 28 and senior Erin Cooke has totaled 26 this season.

Sophomore libero Anna Hewitt sits third in the Big South with 404 digs as the Alvaton, Kentucky native is fifth in digs/set at 4.44.

Hailey Grocholski is tied for fourth in blocks/set with 0.96 and has 66 total blocks which ranks second on the team.
