SUMMERVILE, S.C. - The Presbyterian Men's Wrestling team falls to The Citadel in the Low Country Brawl 42-3 at Summerville High School on Saturday afternoon. The loss moves Presbyterian to 0-1 in dual meet action.

The dual began at 165 lbs. where Sean Getty lost by pin to Selwyn Porter, a third place finisher at the SOCON championships last season.  Cole Burke added a 9-1 major decision over Mason Watkins.

David Bertrand found himself in a tight bout against Ben Haubert at 184 lbs. The bout was tied 1-1 in the final period. Haubert scored a late takedown to win 3-1 as The Citadel build a 13-0 lead in the dual. The Citadel added a pin at 197 lbs. as Ben Stemmet defeated Aiden Jean.

At 285, Will Pontoon battled with returning SOCON Champion and NCAA Qualifier Michael McAleavey.  Pontoon fought hard and found himself in a 5-3 match heading into the third period. McAleavy scored a quick set of back points and added a riding time point to win 8-3.

After receiving a forfeit at 125 lbs, Dominic Chavez faced Jake Rotunda of The Citadel at 133 lbs. Chavez and Rotunda came out pushing the action with both wrestlers coming out attacking. After a scoreless first period, Chavez started the second period in the bottom position. In a flurry of action Chavez gave up a four-point near-fall before eventually getting a two-point reversal at the end of the period. At the start of the third and final period, Chavez scored a takedown but dropped a close 6-4 bout as The Citadel advanced to 31-0. The Citadel added to their team total by picking up a pin at 141 lbs., as Jack Whitmire defeated Khalid Brinkley.

At 149 lbs. Reid Stewart got the Blue Hose on the board with a hard fought 3-1 victory over Ethan Willis. After a scoreless first period, Willis escaped early in the second period to take a 1-0 lead. Stewart added a takedown as time expired in the second period to go up 2-1. In the third period Stewart escaped and finished the match with a 3-1 win.

In the final bout of the dual meet Michael Ramirez lost by pin to Dazjon Casto. Making the final team score 42-3. After completion of the dual, the Blue Hose went 3-0 in extra countable matches. Earning victories in those bouts were: Jacob Brasseur (133 lbs.), Logan Spell (149 lbs.), and Mason Watkins (174 lbs.).
