Volleyball Returns Home for Senior Weekend

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College Volleyball team returns home for the final time in 2021 as the Blue Hose host Gardner-Webb and Winthrop this weekend from the Templeton Center. The Blue Hose and Runnin' Bulldogs face off Friday night at 6 pm before PC hosts Winthrop on Saturday afternoon at 2 pm. Both matches will be shown on ESPN+.
 
Prior to Saturday afternoon's match the Blue Hose will honor their 2021 senior class which includes Samantha Stanko, Erin Cooke, Allie Wright, Sierra Jones and Hannah Chapman for all of their contributions to the PC volleyball program.

Last Time Out
Senior Erin Cooke totaled her sixth triple-double of the season with 12 kills, 44 assists, and 10 digs as the Presbyterian College volleyball team defeated Radford in five sets (25-22, 23-25,25-22,23-25,15-9) at the Dedmon Center. 5th year senior Allie Wright totaled 13 kills and a .619 hitting percentage in the victory. 
 
Last Matchup vs Gardner-Webb
Senior Erin Cooke was one of three players to record at least 10 kills on Saturday afternoon but the Presbyterian College volleyball team was unable to get past Gardner-Webb falling (22-25,22-25,25-23,21-25) at Paul Porter Arena. Cooke totaled 11 kills, 17 assists, and nine digs in the setback. Freshman Rylee Moorehead recorded 11 kills and Paige Cairns added 10 to the PC attack. 
 
Last Matchup vs Winthrop
Senior Erin Cooke totaled her fourth triple-double of the season, but the Presbyterian College volleyball team fell 3-2 (25-21, 12-25, 30-28, 16-25, 9-15) to Winthrop at the Winthrop Coliseum on Friday night. Cooke totaled 16 kills, 15 assists, and 10 digs for the Davidson, N.C. native's fourth triple-double. 
 
Cooke Triple-Doubles...
Senior Erin Cooke has totaled six triple-doubles on the season which is currently tied for the lead amongst all NCAA DI volleyball players. Cooke's last triple-double came on Saturday afternoon against Radford with 12 kills, 44 assists, and 10 digs in the five-set victory. In her six triple-doubles this season, Cooke is averaging 14 kills, 22 assists, and 14 digs per match.
 
The Opponent...
Gardner-Webb enters the weekend with a 7-15 record as the Runnin' Bulldogs look for the season sweep of PC after defeating the Blue Hose in four sets last month. Kylee Garrison leads Gardner-Webb with 201 kills and is third on the team with 21 service aces. Tori Weatherley has a team-high 435 assists with Lauryn Rocassin has totaled 286 helpers so far this year. Mikah McIntosh leads the Runnin' Bulldogs with 416 digs averaging 5.4 per set. Hannah Donaldson has totaled 58 blocks to pace GWU. In the October 2nd match in Boiling Springs, Garrison and Rocassin led the attack with 13 kills apiece as Rocassin and Weatherley had a team-high 23 helpers. Mikah McIntosh led Gardner-Webb with 30 digs in the victory.

Winthrop begins play this weekend with a 13-9 as the Eagles travel to Charleston Southern on Friday night before making the trek to Clinton on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles look to complete the season sweep of PC after winning in Rock Hill in five set to open October. Morgan Bossler leads the Eagles with 229 kills as she's hitting at a .348 clip, while Nikkia Benitez has totaled 204 kills. The Eagles are led in assists by Jana Owens as she has totaled 654 while averaging 10.06 per set this season. Winthrop has four players with 200+ digs led by Leah Metzger with 268. Bossler leads the Eagles in blocks with 66. In the October 1st match in Rock Hill, Bossler led the Eagles with 21 kills and Karli Shepherd added 14 kills. Owens totaled 60 assists as Madison Gorniak led the Eagles with 23 digs.

Conference Leaders
PC sits second in the league in service aces per set at 1.85 this season. Freshman Rylee Moorhead leads the Blue Hose with 34 aces, while fifth year senior Allie Wright has 26 and senior Erin Cooke has totaled 25 this season. Moorhead is tied for the conference lead averaging 0.4 aces/set.

Sophomore libero Anna Hewitt sits fourth in the Big South with 368 digs as the Alvaton, Kentucky native is tied for fourth in digs/set at 4.38.

Cooke is sixth in the league with 234 kills averaging 2.82 per set.
