Blue Hose Travel to Clemson on Sunday

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team heads out on the road Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. when the Blue Hose travel to take on Clemson from Littlejohn Coliseum. The matchup with the Tigers is slated to be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.

Last Time Out
A 24-point second quarter helped the Presbyterian College women's basketball team pick up its fourth straight victory on Wednesday over UNCG at the Templeton Center by the score of 60-53. Jade Compton was one of three to post in double figures as she led the Blue Hose with 15 points and six rebounds. Nyah Willis and Maleia Bracone added 12 points in the contest as well.
 
Blue Hose in the Ranks...
Entering the weekend, Jade Compton sits fifth in the league with 14.6 points per game and is fourth in the conference with a field goal percentage of 53.4%... Nyah Willis is eighth in rebounding with 6.1 per contest.... As a team, PC is fourth in scoring defense allowing just 60.7 ppg... Presbyterian is third in three-point field goal percentage at 31.9%... PC is also third in free throw percentage at 73.1%...
 
4-Game Win Streak...
On Wednesday the Blue Hose picked up their fourth straight win to improve to 4-3 on the season. It marks PC first four game win streak since January of 2016 when PC won four straight in Big South play. Presbyterian has won five in a row once during the 2012-13 season and had a six game streak during that same season. 
 
4-Game Win Streak By the Numbers...
5th year senior Jade Compton is leading the Blue Hose in the last four wins with 17.0 points per game, while Nyah Willis is adding 13.8 ppg. Willis is leading the team with 8.3 rebounds per contest. PC is connecting on 39.1% of three pointers led by Compton with 10 threes and Bracone with eight.
 
On Tap...
PC is scheduled to play 27 contests under the directon of fourth year head coach Alaura Sharp during the 2021-22 season including 18 league games which begin on December 29th inside the Templeton Center. The Blue Hose are slated to make trips to Kentucky, Clemson, Furman, Jacksonville and Vanderbilt in non-conference play while welcoming UNCG, ETSU and the likes of St. Thomas to Clinton. Presbyterian will play seven home-homes in league play with single matchups slated for UNC Asheville, Campbell, High Point and Winthrop.
 
Scouting the Tigers...
Clemson comes into the game on Sunday with a 4-3 record after a 72-61 setback last time out against Northwestern. Delicia Washington leads the Tigers with 15.9 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per contest. Kiara Lewis is averaging 12.6 points per contest and Gabby Elliott sits at 10.3 per game. Lewis and Washington are both averaging over two steals a game this season with Lewis at 2.29 and Washington is at 2.14.
 
Back in Blue
Coach Sharp brings back four starters from last year's squad, with Tionna Carter,Jade ComptonTrinity Johnson and Nyah Willis getting the start in all 21 games last season for the Blue Hose. PC returns its top five scores from a year ago in Carter (12.7 ppg), Compton (12.1), Johnson (10.0 ppg), Willis (8.7 ppg) and Maleia Bracone (8.0 ppg). PC returns 88.1 percent of its scoring from a season ago including the aformentioned five. The Blue Hose welcome back their top five rebounders from a season ago led by Compton averaging 8.0 per game last season.
 
New Kids on the Block
Coach Sharp has brought five newcomers into the fold for the 2021-22 season, four freshmen and one transfer. Center Bryanna Brady (Goodyear, Ariz.) transfered to Presbyterian College from UC Riverside. Joining the Blue Hose as freshman are guards A'Nyah Barker (Fair Lawn, N.J.), Jo Raflo (Gainsville, Va.), Paige Kindseth (Farmington, Minn.) and forward Jasmine Stevens (Atlanta, Ga.) all make up the Blue Hose incoming freshman class.
 
Johnson Record Chasing
Senior guard Trinity Johnson begins the 2021-22 season within striking distance of becoming the sixth Blue Hose in the DI era to eclipse 1,000+ points in her career. Johnson enters the season needing just 87 points to achieve the milestone. Johnson would be the first since Kacie Hall reached 1,099 during her time at PC from 2016-20. Johnson also needs 20 assists to climb to second in the Blue Hose DI record book. She will enter the season third in steals with 146 as Cortney Storey holds the top spot in the DI record book at 227.
 
Up Next...
The Blue Hose will have a 10-day break for finals and return to action on December 15th at 5 p.m. against Carolina Christian. The matchup with Carolina Christian will be game one of a doubleheader as the men's team faces Carver at 7 p.m. that same night.
