Men’s Tennis Posts Impressive Win Over Mercer, 6-1

Box Score Macon, Ga. – After a number of cancelations to begin the season, the Presbyterian College men's tennis team returned to the court in impressive fashion with a 6-1 win over Mercer on Sunday morning at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Courts.

COACH COLLINS ON THE MATCH
"We did an incredible job competing today, said first-year head coach John Collins. We constantly talk about what it means to be a great competitor and today we embodied that on each court and I am so proud of the guys! This has been such a challenging start to the season and our guys to continue to be patient and focus on getting better every day at practice. We are looking forward to competing again next weekend at home. Go Blue Hose!"

HOW IT HAPPENED
A hard fought win by Max Benson and Georgije Babic at the No. 1 and a 6-4 victory from the No. 2 pairing of Daniel Stenger and Sebastian Dominguez secured the doubles point for the Blue Hose.

A 6-3, 6-3 victory from Dominguez at the No. 3 opened the singles scoring for the Blue Hose, followed up by 6-2, 6-1 victory from Javier Matos at the No. 6 position.

Benson, Babic and Nicholas McKinney picked up three set victories at the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 positions, respectively, after each of them dropped their first set.

NOTABLES
- Benson, Babic and Dominguez each picked up a pair of wins for PC on the day.

- John Collins earned his first win as the head coach of the Blue Hose men's tennis program.

UP NEXT
The Blue Hose return home on Friday, February 26, when they host Campbell for a Big South Conference match at 2 p.m. from the Templeton Tennis Courts.
