Notes

The Wait is Over...
PC takes the court for the first time in 439 days on Thursday as it begins its season with a pair of matches against preseason favorite High Point. With the 2020 season shifted to the spring of 2021 due to COVID-19, PC has not played since the semifinals of the 2019 Big South Championship, a contest it lost to the eventual tournament champion, Winthrop. This season features a double-round robin format, with each team playing each other twice (minus Hampton who opted out of the season), and the regular season champion earning the conference's bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Back in Blue...
The Blue Hose bring back five starters and nine total members of the 2019 squad which went 15-15, PC's best season since its 20-win campaign in 2007. In 2019, Presbyterian finished fourth in the league, its highest finish since 2012. The Blue Hose reached the Big South Championship for the first time since 2014, and won their first game in the tournament, a quarterfinal sweep of fifth-seeded UNC Asheville, since 2012. PC returns three of its top four in kills from a season ago in Preseason All-Conference selection Erin Cooke (286), Trinity Williams (269) and Allie Wright (200). The Blue Hose also bring back their top two in assists in Sierra Jones (558) and Cooke (481) as well as their leader in blocks (Wright, 95).

Scouting the Panthers...
Last month, High Point was chosen as the Big South preseason favorite for the fifth consecutive season in the league's annual preseason poll. The Panthers boasted a league-high three members of the Preseason All-Conference Team in libero Abby Bottomley, outside hitter Annie Sullivan and middle blocker Kaley Rammelsberg. In 2019, the Panthers went 21-13 overall, 12-2 in league play and were ousted in the Big South semifinals.
