Women's Soccer Tops Winthrop

Clinton, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's soccer team returned home and earned a 3-1 win over Winthrop on Thursday night in Big South Conference action at Martin Stadium. The Blue Hose had goals from Kendra Davis, Morgan Hutchison, and Kori Lawrence in the victory.

Scoring Summary
- In the 36th minute, PC got on the board with Davis dribbling it from midfield thru the Eagle defense and beating Ashlynn Harris for the 1-0 lead. 
- PC continued the momentum in the second half as Hutchison pushed the lead to 2-0 on a scramble in front where she was able to sneak it thru in the 51st minute.
- The Blue Hose weren't done yet as off of a free kick in the 54th minute Lawrence snuck it thru into the right side of the net for the 3-0 lead. 
- Winthrop got on the board in the 84th minute as Erika Brown buried it to cut the PC lead to 3-1 but the guests would get no closer as the Blue Hose earned the victory on Thursday night.

By the Numbers
- Presbyterian had a 13-12 lead in shots while holding a commanding 7-2 lead in shots on goal over the Eagles.
- Winthrop held an 8-1 lead in corner kicks.
- Davis's goal in the first half was her first collegiate goal. 
- Jessica Escobar led the team in shots with four, while Amy Cloud, Carolay Ospina, and Kendra Davis each had two shots.
- Escobar had two of the Blue Hose seven shots on frame. 
- Lawrence scored her team-high second goal of the season and eighth of her collegiate career moving her into a tie for eighth all-time in PC's DI record book with Sarah Yoss.

- The Blue Hose returns to the field on Sunday at 4 p.m. when they travel to Buies Creek to face Campbell.
