Men's Tennis Opens Week with Pair of League Matches

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men's tennis team begins a busy week on Tuesday with a league match at home against Campbell before heading to UNC Asheville on Wednesday afternoon. Tuesday's home match is set to begin at 2 p.m., while the Blue Hose head to Asheville at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

MATCHUP: Presbyterian at UNC Asheville (5-4, 2-0 Big South)  
TIME: Wednesday March 24, 2 pm
LOCATION: The Asheville Racquet Club Downtown (Asheville, N.C.)

SCOUTING THE CAMELS
- Campbell comes into Tuesday's match winless in seven matches throughout the 2021 spring season after suffering a 7-0 setback on Sunday against UNC Wilmington.
- Benjamin Niv leads the Camels with three singles wins so far in 2021 with all three victories coming from the No. 1 position.
- Noe Macquart/Robin Angles in doubles action are 2-1 on the season to lead Campbell's doubles teams.
- Campbell holds a slim 7-6 lead over the Blue Hose during the PC DI era. In the last five matches, the two teams have battled in 4-3 decisions in each contest with the Blue Hose winning three of the five matches.
 
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
- UNC Asheville comes into Thursday's match with a 5-4 record following a back-to-back Big South wins over Campbell (7-0) and Longwood (5-2).
- The Bulldogs have also earned wins so far this season against UNC Greensboro, N.C. Central and Montreat College.
- Leo Bierbaum leads the Bulldogs with a 8-1 singles record as he has played at the No. 4 and 5 singles spot primarily in 2021. Jon Brann Reid and Harry Thursfield both have earned five wins in singles action so far this spring.
- The duos of Thursfield/Bierbaum is 6-1 in doubles action so far in 2021.
- PC holds a 9-5 edge over UNC Asheville in the Blue Hose DI era all-time series with the Bulldogs taking the most recent meeting from the Blue Hose in 2019 by the score of 4-3.  

LAST TIME OUT
- On a windy Saturday afternoon in Clinton, the Presbyterian College men's tennis team was able to earn a 5-2 victory over Davidson at the Templeton Tennis Courts.

UP NEXT
- Following Wednesday's match with UNC Asheville, the Blue Hose head to Atlanta on Friday afternoon for a 2 p.m. matchup with Georgia State.
