Marshall Leads Blue Hose in Loss at Kent State

Kent, Ohio – The Presbyterian College women's lacrosse team fell to Kent State, 21-12, on Monday afternoon at Dix Stadium.  Senior captain Sarah Marshall scored five goals to lead the Blue Hose offense and share the game-high with the Golden Flashes' Madison Rapier.

Scoring The Game
The Blue Hose jumped out to a 2-0 lead following goals from Kara DiClemente (27:04) and Kelly Hyman (22:27). However, the Golden Flashes scored three times in less than sixty seconds to take a 3-2 lead at 21:17. Marshall then tied the game, 3-3, with a free-position goal at 12:45. Ana Boothe then gave PC a 4-3 lead following a yellow card to Kent State with 11:28 on the clock. The home team notched another pair of quick goals to hold a 5-4 advantage until DiClemente scored her second of the game to make it 5-5 with 2:10 left in the half. Kent State scored the final goal of the first half with 1:17 to play and held a 6-5 lead after thirty minutes.

The hosts continued to pull away until Marshall scored her second of the game at 23:21 to make it a 10-6 deficit. After another 4-0 run by Kent State, Marshall and Boothe scored back-to-back goals in under a minute to cut into the deficit, 14-8, with 12:48 to go. DiClemente and Hyman repeated the feat with back-to-back goals at 9:32 and 8:45 to keep the game close, 15-10. Despite another pair of goals from Marshall in the final minutes, Kent State pulled away for the 21-12 win.
