Tweed Homers, PC Drops Pair at Winthrop

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Jaiden Tweed hit her second homer of the spring, but Presbyterian College dropped both ends of its Big South Conference doubleheader at Winthrop on Saturday afternoon, 3-1 and 3-0.

- Tweed went deep in the first inning of game one, her second long ball of the spring.
- Haley Haselden tossed a complete game in the opener and struck out nine, her highest total as a Blue Hose.
- Jenna Greene went the distance for PC in game two and yielded just three hits while fanning four.
- Kiley Kross notched a hit in both contests.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
- The Blue Hose got on the board early, as Tweed, the second batter of the day, blasted a solo home run to center in the top of the first.
- Winthrop evened the game at 1-1 with a run in the third.
- The Eagles loaded the bases in the fourth, but Haselden was able to get out of the jam unscathed.
- The contest remained tied until the bottom of the seventh, when Winthrop hit a two-out, walk-off home run to win game one.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2
- Winthrop struck first in game two, tallying a run in the home half of the first.
-  The Blue Hose got a runner into scoring position in both the fourth and fifth innings, but were unable to capitalize either time.
- After a 12-minute rain delay in the bottom of the fifth, the Eagles tacked on two more to extend their edge to 3-0.
