PC Splits with Longwood on Senior Day

CLINTON, S.C. – Haley Haselden tossed her second straight shutout as Presbyterian College knocked off Longwood 3-0 in the second game of the two teams' Big South Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Lancers took the first game of the day, 7-0.

NOTABLES
- Presbyterian's game two victory snapped a seven-game skid for the Blue Hose against the Lancers.
- Haselden went the distance for the 11th time this season and earned her fourth shutout of the campaign, tying her for third-most in a single season in PC's DI era (since 2008). The southpaw also tied teammate Jenna Greene for third in career shutouts with seven.
- Kiley Kross picked up her third multi-hit game of the season in the finale.
- In the opener, Greene struck out five to move past Brittany Howell (2009-11) for fifth in the DI era with 208 career strikeouts.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
- The Lancers got on the board early, plating a run in the top of the first.
- Longwood added two more runs in each of the fourth, sixth and seventh frames.
- Righty Sydney Backstrom retired all 21 she faced for Longwood.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2
- Longwood threatened in each of the first two innings of the finale, but Haselden wiggled out of trouble both times to keep the game scoreless.
- Presbyterian broke through in the bottom of the second. Lath Freeman brought home the contest's first run with a single, and Layna Johnson then followed with a run-scoring double to make it 2-0.
- Kross brought home Jaiden Tweed with a double off of the left field wall in the third to stretch PC's edge to 3-0.
- Haselden took control from there, retiring 10 of the final 11 Lancers she faced.
