"It was a tough one this afternoon," commented head coach Joel Roberts. "It is never fun to end the year but I am proud of this group for all they accomplished this season. Radford played a great match and best of luck to them tomorrow. Our team left it all out there and I couldn't be more proud. We will be back."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jessica Leeman and Lucianna Piedra earned the 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles to start Saturday's semifinal.
- Radford responded at No. 1 and 2 doubles to earn the first point of the match and get the 1-0 lead.
- Senior Samantha Calais evened the match up at one with a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles.
- Beth Lacey extended the PC lead to 2-1 with a straight-set win at No. 6 singles.
- Radford regained the lead with a pair of straight-set victories at No. 1 and 3 singles to jump back out in front 3-2 in the match.
- Piedra tied the match at three apiece with a 7-6 tiebreak win in set two to force the deciding point coming at No. 4 singles.
- The Highlanders earned a three-set victory at No. 4 singles to pick up the semifinal win on Saturday over PC.
