CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team was unable to overcome an eight-run first inning from visiting USC Upstate as the Spartans recorded an 11-8 victory on Tuesday afternoon at the PC Baseball Complex. Presbyterian recorded home runs on Tuesday from Zacchaeus Rasberry, Sean Klein, and Jeremiah Boyd.

- Rasberry paced the Blue Hose offense with three hits including his third home run of the spring coming in the first inning. He matched a career-high with the seventh three-hit game of his Presbyterian career.
- Eric Toth and Boyd each added a pair of hits with Boyd connecting on his first home run of the year.
- Klein added his third home run of the spring in Tuesday's contest as well.
- It's the first game since April 23, 2019, that the Blue Hose have recorded 3+ home runs as Ashby Smith, Zacchaeus Rasberry, Jeremiah Boyd, and Johnny Cook did it as part of a 15-7 victory over Davidson.
- Kyle Benson pitched a season-high 3.0 scoreless innings of relief marking his longest outing as a Blue Hose not allowing a run.
- Luke Matthews tossed 2.0 innings of relief as he didn't allow an earned run in his appearance on Tuesday.
- PC recorded its fifth game with multiple home runs as the Blue Hose recorded a season-high three long balls. The Blue Hose also recorded their sixth game with 10+ hits throughout the last seven.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans got on the board first with eight runs in the opening half inning to take the early 8-0 lead.
- Rasberry and Boyd got the Blue Hose on the board in the bottom half of the inning with a pair of solo home runs to cut the lead down to six, 8-2.
- The guests added an RBI double in the third inning to push the lead out to 9-2.
- PC cut into the USC Upstate deficit once again in the fourth with a three-run homer from Klein to make it a four-run game at 9-5.
- The Blue Hose added an RBI single from Boyd in the seventh to cut it to a 9-6 ballgame.
- Upstate added a run in the eighth and the ninth to push the lead back out to five, 11-6.
- In the ninth, Toth picked up an RBI double which was followed by a bases-loaded walk by Wyandt to cut the Spartan lead to three, 11-8 but the Blue Hose got no closer as the guests closed it out for the midweek victory.
