Big South Announces 2020-21 Presidential Honor Roll

16 Blue Hose Earn Commissioner's Award for 4.0 GPA

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today that 62.61 percent of eligible student-athletes earned Presidential Honor Roll status for their work in the classroom in 2020-21 -- the second consecutive year above 60 percent.

To be named to the Presidential Honor Roll, student-athletes must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or better for the recently-completed academic year, and this past season, 2,289 out of 3,656 eligible student-athletes achieved the benchmark.

PC's 16 Commissioner Award winners were spread across nine of its athletic programs with lacrosse leading the way with four student-athletes being honored. Men's soccer had three honorees, while men's golf and women's soccer had two apiece. Men's tennis, men's and women's cross country, volleyball and women's golf each added one to the list.

Winthrop University led all Big South institutions for the first time since 2011-12, as WU had 75.70 percent of its 251 eligible student-athletes on the Presidential Honor Roll -- one of four members to have at least 70 percent of 3.0 students. High Point University placed 75.00 percent of its 304 eligible student-athletes on the list, while Radford University (194-of-268 student-athletes) and Presbyterian College (177-of-251) had 70.52 percent earn a 3.0 GPA for the year. An additional five members reached the 60 percent threshold: Hampton University (69.70), UNC Asheville (67.42), Longwood University (65.82), USC Upstate (61.69) and Gardner-Webb (61.14).
