Volleyball Set to Visit Furman, Host Elon This Week

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team is set for a pair of games this week, with a trip to Furman on Thursday evening followed by the team's 2021 home opener on Friday night against Elon.

Last Time Out...
Presbyterian opened up its 2021 season by going 2-1 at the Bash in the Boro. After falling to Georgia Southern in the opener, PC bounced back with 3-0 wins over Bethune-Cookman and Coppin State. In the sweep of CSU, senior Erin Cooke recorded her seventh career triple-double, posting 12 kills, 17 assists and 13 digs. At the end of the weekend, Cooke and freshman Rylee Moorhead were both selected to the Bash in the Boro All-Tournament Team.

League-Leading Libero...
PC libero Anna Hewitt posted match highs in digs in each of last weekend's three matches, totaling 55. The sophomore ended the first week of the season averaging 6.11/set, tops in the Big South.

The Opponents...
Like PC, Furman went 2-1 during its opening weekend, beating North Alabama and UNCW, while falling to Wake Forest. The two teams are meeting for the first time since 2014. Elon is coming off of a loss at Duke on Tuesday and will bring a 1-3 record to Clinton on Friday. The Phoenix knocked off the Blue Hose 3-1 in Charlotte back in 2018, the lone prior meeting between the two programs.
