Volleyball Wraps Up Non-Conference in Charleston on Friday

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team closes out non-conference play on Friday with a doubleheader at The Citadel. PC will face S.C. State at 1 p.m. before facing the host Bulldogs at 6 p.m… The match with the Citadel will be broadcast on ESPN+ Friday night.

Last Time Out...
After winning sets one and three, The Presbyterian College volleyball team was unable to come away with a set five victory as they fell to Georgia State, 3-2 on Saturday inside GSU Sports Arena. This came the day after splitting a doubleheader with Stetson (five-set loss) and Alcorn State (three-set win). Erin Cook led PC in the tournament with 35 kills, 46 assists and 33 digs.

League-Leading Libero...
PC libero Anna Hewitt posted 57 digs in the GSU Invitational last weekend. The sophomore sits at the top spot in the Big South as she averages 4.83/set. She earned Libero of the Week honors following her performance.

The Opponents...
S.C. State is winless so far thru six matches in the 2021 season after dropping a three-set match on Thursday to CSU. The Bulldogs are slated to face The Citadel on Thursday night before Friday's match.
The Citadel is 3-1 on the young season following a 3-1 win over Charleston Southern last Saturday.

Records....
During the GSU Invitational, the Blue Hose had a pair of milestones hit as Sierra Jones played in her 100th career match against Alcorn State. With her 11 aces in Atlanta, Allie Wright became the DI record holder for PC with 148 career service aces.

Service Aces
The Blue Hose sit atop the conference averaging 2.17 service aces per set through eight contests this season. PC is led by Allie Wright with 16 aces, while Erin Cooke has totaled 11 this season. Kinsey Bailey and Abby Sparkman each have 10 aces apiece on the year. The Blue Hose rank ninth nationally in service aces as well.

Cooke Triple-Doubles...
Senior Erin Cooke has totaled three triple-doubles on the season which is currently tied for the top spot in the nation with Sarah Ciszek from Sacred Heart. Cooke recorded her first of the season vs Coppin State with 12 kills, 17 assists and 13 digs. She followed that up a few days later with 16 kills, 17 assists and 11 digs against Furman. Cooke's most recent triple-double occurred last weekend against Stetson with 16 kills, 21 assists and 21 digs.
