LEXINGTON, VA – The Presbyterian College men's soccer team earned their first win as they downed the VMI Keydets by a 1-0 final.
Jaume Rubio scored in the 51
st minute and the Blue Hose never looked back as they went on to defeat VMI.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Presbyterian got the first opportunity of the match as they earned a corner as
Jaume Rubio got to it, but it was saved by the keeper. VMI came back less than a minute later with a shot of their own, but Aiden Montoure made his first save of the game to keep it scoreless.
Nacho Gallego had a chance himself, but once again the save was made. Mamaduh Bah and Gallego had shots as the half was coming to a close as Presbyterian and VMI went into halftime tied 0-0.
After a bit of an aggressive start to the second half,
Jaume Rubio found the back of the net in the 51
st minute to give the Blue Hose the lead. Bah had another chance 10 minutes later, but his shot was blocked and went out for a corner. Presbyterian kept the pressure on as
Tyler Adu saw his chance go wide right. The Keydets looked to even the score, but Montoure stayed strong making two saves. Presbyterian put their fifth shot on goal by way of
Marco Filous as they looked to add a second goal. VMI made subs late to try and get back into the game, but they were given a red card that sent them down to 10 men with 10 minutes remaining. The Blue Hose took advantage by controlling possession and playing out the clock as they got their first win of the season.

The Blue Hose will stay on the road as they travel to Columbia to take on SEC opponent South Carolina on Tuesday, September 7. Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.
