Blue Hose Host CSU on Wednesday Night

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team hits the court on Wednesday night for Big South clash with Charleston Southern from the Templeton Center at 6 p.m. matchup on ESPN+.

Hampton jumped out to an early 18-point lead that propelled the host Pirates to a 66-43 victory on Tuesday night at the Convocation Center. Jade Compton pulled down 12 rebounds in the contest to lead the Blue Hose.

Fifth-year senior Jade Compton ranks fifth in the league in scoring this season averaging 16.0 points per game. She's also tied for fourth in league games with 20.0 ppg. Compton leads the conference in league games with 13.5 rebounds per contest... Overall, Compton is eighth in rebounds with 7.0 and Nyah Willis is eighth at 6.4... Compton is fourth in the league in field goal percentage at 45.9%...

Compton Leading the Way...
Jade Compton tied the DI single-game program record in the league opener against Longwood with 32 points in 40 minutes. She also tied her own personal record with 15 rebounds in the contest. She's had 15+ points in each of her last five contests highlighted by 21 against Jacksonville and the aformentioned 32 on Saturday against the Lancers.

Double-Doubles in 2021-22...
Jade Compton's first double-double of the season marked the third time this season that the Blue Hose have had a double-double during the 2021-22 season. Nyah Willis had a pair of double-doubles in non-conference play against St. Thomas (15 pts, 11 rebs) and Vanderbilt (16 pts, 12 rebs)...

Field Goal Shooting...
PC ranks fourth in the Big South in shooting percentage at 40.5%. It is highlighted by three games of 50% or higher including a season-high 54.8% against ETSU during PC's four-game win streak earlier this season. Presbyterian has shot 41.5% or higher in seven of the 12 games during the 2021-22 season.

Field Goal Defense...
PC also ranks third in shooting defense among Big South teams allowing just 39.7% of opponents field goals thru 12 games. The Blue Hose have held opponents under 38.2% in seven of the last 10 games highlighted by 28.3% from the field by Clemson.

Scouting the Bucs...
Charleston Southern comes into Wednesday's contest with a 1-13 record following a 61-40 setback last time out against Campbell. Alyssia Faye leads the Bucs in scoring and rebounding with 8.3 points per game and 6.2 rebounds per game this year. Faye is one of three CSU players to average 10+ points in league games with 11.3 ppg and 7.3 rpg this season. CSU opened league play with a 13-point victory over Winthrop in Rock Hill a few weeks ago.
