Blue Hose Return to Action on Saturday at UNC Asheville

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team returns to the hardwood on Saturday at 2 p.m. with a trip to Asheville on tap to face UNC Asheville from Kimmel Arena. The Bulldogs and Blue Hose will meet up on ESPN+ on Saturday afternoon.

Last Time Out...
The Presbyterian College women's basketball team's second-half rally came up short on Tuesday night as the host Gardner-Webb downed the Blue Hose 64-56 in Big South action. The Blue Hose were led by fifth-year senior Jade Compton who had 18 points, while Tionna Carter chipped in with 11. Freshman Paige Kindseth pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds in the contest.

Last Five Games...
In the last five games, Jade Compton is averaging a double-double with 16.4 points along with 10.4 rebounds per contest... Maleia Bracone is averaging 12.5 ppg in the Blue Hose last five contests... Tionna Carter is averaging 11.4 ppg and 5.2 rebounds as she's connected on 48.7% of her field goals...

Blue Hose in the Ranks...
As a team, the Blue Hose rank third in the league at the foul line making 69.8% of their free throws this season... PC is tied for second in rebounding with 37.4 rebounds per contest... Jade Compton checks in fifth in ppg on the season in the league with 15.6 on average this year... Compton is also tied for seventh in rebounds with 7.3 per game... Maleia Bracone is tied for seventh in threes in the Big South as she's made 24 this season...

Double-Doubles in 2021-22...
Jade Compton's added her second double-double of the year last Wednesday against CSU with 12 points and 10 rebounds in a 68-58 victory over the Bucs. Compton's first double-double of the season came in the Big South opener against Longwood with 32 points and 15 rebounds. Nyah Willis had a pair of double-doubles in non-conference play against St. Thomas (15 pts, 11 rebs) and Vanderbilt (16 pts, 12 rebs)...

Field Goal Shooting...
PC ranks fourth in the Big South in shooting percentage at 40.9%. It is highlighted by three games of 50% or higher including a season-high 54.8% against ETSU during PC's four-game win streak earlier this season. Presbyterian has shot 41.5% or higher in nine of the 15 games during the 2021-22 season.

Field Goal Defense...
PC also ranks third in shooting defense among Big South teams allowing just 39.5% of opponents field goals thru 15 games.

Scouting the Bulldogs...
UNC Asheville enters Saturday's contest with a 7-10 record following a 61-57 setback on Tuesday night against High Point. The Bulldogs are led offensively by Nadiria Evans who is averaging a conference-high 18.3 points per game to go along with 5.6 rebounds. Kai Carter has added 14.1 ppg and 6.1 rebounds per game this season. UNC Asheville leads the Big South in rebounding with 38.2 rebounds per game led by Carter.
