PC Set to Host Panthers on Saturday Afternoon

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team is back at home on Saturday with a 2 p.m. tip against High Point from the Templeton Center. The game is the first of a doubleheader on Saturday as the men's team hosts UNC Asheville at 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

Last Time Out...
Faith Price connected on a three with 2.7 seconds to play to push Campbell past the Presbyterian College women's basketball team on Wednesday night by the score of 58-55 at the Templeton Center. The Blue Hose were led by fifth-year senior Jade Compton with 18 points, while Tionna Carter added 15 points. Maleia Bracone recorded her first double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Sharp Inks Three-Year Extension
Presbyterian College women's basketball coach Alaura Sharp has signed a three-year contract extension, as announced Tuesday by Athletics Director Rob Acunto. Sharp is in her fourth season at the helm of the Blue Hose women's basketball as PC is 8-8 and 3-3 in the Big South during the current 2021-22 campaign.
 
Last Five Games...
Over the last five games, fifth-year senior Jade Compton is averaging 16.6 ppg to go along with 8.2 rebounds/game as she's made 46.6% of her field goals in that stretch. Maleia Bracone has scored 13.4 ppg over the same stretch which includes connecting on 11 threes. Tionna Carter has 13 ppg to go along with 5.2 rebounds/game. As a team, PC is connecting on 41.4% of field goals and has averaged allowing 59.4 points/game over the last five.
 
Blue Hose in the Ranks...
Jade Compton sits in fourth place in the conference averaging 16.2 points/game on the season... Compton is also tied for sixth in rebounds with 7.4 per contest... The fifth-year senior sits fifth in the league shooting 46.1% from the field... Nyah Willis is eighth in the Big South with 46 assists... As a team, PC is third in field goal percentage at 40.8% and is second in field goal defense allowing just 39.1% of field goals to be converted... PC leads the league with 37.9 rebounds per game...
 
Double-Doubles in 2021-22...
Maleia Bracone picked up her second career double-double against Campbell on Wednesday night with 13 points and 10 rebounds. She's the third Blue Hose player to record a double-double this season as Jade Compton had a pair so far in league play against CSU (12 pts, 10 rebs) and Longwood (32 pts, 15 rebs). Nyah Willis had a pair of double-doubles in non-conference play against St. Thomas (15 pts, 11 rebs) and Vanderbilt (16 pts, 12 rebs)...
 
Field Goal Shooting...
PC ranks fourth in the Big South in shooting percentage at 40.8%. It is highlighted by three games of 50% or higher including a season-high 54.8% against ETSU during PC's four-game win streak earlier this season. Presbyterian has shot 41.5% or higher in 10 of the 17 games during the 2021-22 season.
 
Field Goal Defense...
PC also ranks second in shooting defense among Big South teams allowing just 39.1% of opponents field goals thru 17 games.
 
Scouting the Panthers...
High Point comes into Saturday's game with a 6-11 record following a 77-64 setback against Longwood on Tuesday night. HPU is led offensively by Jaden Wrightsell who's averaging 12.2 points/game and has added 4.6 rebounds/game. Jenson Edwards has added 10.3 ppg and a team-high 6.2 rebounds/game.
