Women's Basketball Heads To Hampton for Tuesday Night Matchup

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team travels to Hampton on Tuesday night for its first road contest in Big South play against the Pirates. The matchup with Hampton is slated for 7 p.m. tip from the Convocation Center on ESPN+.

Last Time Out
The Presbyterian College women's basketball team rallied down the stretch with a 15-3 run over the final four minutes, but the rally fell just short as the Blue Hose fell to Longwood Lancers 83-78 on Saturday afternoon at the Templeton Center. Fifth-Year senior Jade Compton recorded her 10th career double-double as she matched her career-high with 32 points and 15 rebounds.

Last Five Games...
Over the Blue Hose last five games, fifth-year senior Jade Compton is averaging 20.3 points per game following her 32 points against Longwood last time out. She's also leading the team with 8.8 rebounds per game in that stretch. Nyah Willis is averaging 11.8 points per contest, while Tionna Carter has scored 11.0 ppg during the five-game stretch.

Blue Hose in the Ranks...
Jade Compton is tied for second in the league averaging 16.8 points per game. Compton has had four games with 20+ points this season. The fifth-year senior also ranks fourth in the league shooting 48.5% from the floor... Nyah Willis is tied for eighth in rebounding averaging 6.5 per contest... Compton Leading the Way...
Jade Compton tied the DI single-game program record on Saturday with 32 points in 40 minutes against Longwood. She also tied her own personal record with 15 rebounds in the contest. She's had 15+ points in each of her last five contests highlighted by 21 against Jacksonville and the aformentioned 32 on Saturday against the Lancers.

Double-Doubles in 2021-22...
Jade Compton's first double-double of the season marked the third time this season that the Blue Hose have had a double-double during the 2021-22 season. Nyah Willis had a pair of double-doubles in non-conference play against St. Thomas (15 pts, 11 rebs) and Vanderbilt (16 pts, 12 rebs)...

Field Goal Shooting...
PC ranks fourth in the Big South in shooting percentage at 41.1%. It is highlighted by three games of 50% or higher including a season-high 54.8% against ETSU during PC's four-game win streak earlier this season. Presbyterian has shot 41.5% or higher in seven of the 11 games during the 2021-22 season.

Field Goal Defense...
PC also ranks third in shooting defense among Big South teams allowing just 39.1% of opponents field goals thru 11 games. The Blue Hose have held opponents under 38.2% in seven of the last nine games highlighted by 28.3% from the field by Clemson.

Scouting the Pirates...
Hampton enters play on Tuesday with a 5-6 record following an 85-71 win over N.C. A&T in the Pirates league opener. The Pirates are led offensively by Nylah Young who's averaging 14.9 points per game following a season-high 30 points in her last contest against N.C. A&T on Saturday afternoon. Madison Buford is averaging 11.9 points thru nine games this year for Hampton. In the only common opponent between the two teams this year, Hampton defeated Furman 82-53 on December 20th.
