BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Presbyterian College men's wrestling team competed for the first time in over a month on Sunday as they took on VMI and Campbell, falling in both contests. PC couldn't get over the hump against VMI in a 28-18 defeat, and Campbell was too strong as they knocked off the Blue Hose, 33-3.
Presbyterian had a great start to the day as Benny Gomez picked up a 10-3 decision win, and
Dominic Chavez put points on the board with a forfeit win. After a VMI victory,
Michael Ramirez went the distance at 149lbs winning by way of decision, 4-2. A major decision and two pin fall wins for VMI saw them gain an edge, but
David Bertrand kept things close with a 6-1 decision win.
Will Pontoon capped off the match with a win for PC, but it wasn't enough against the Keydets.
For their second match of the day PC took on the SoCon's best in Campbell. With some ranked wrestlers in the Camels' lineup, it was always going to be a tough task for Presbyterian.
Zachary Phillips scored the only points for the Blue Hose with an 11-5 decision win at 165lbs.
