Blue Hose Set to Clash with Eagles on Tuesday Night

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team opens a busy month of February on Tuesday night with a trip to Rock Hill to face Winthrop at 7 p.m. from the Winthrop Coliseum.

Last Time Out...
The Presbyterian College women's basketball team suffered a 57-47 setback at the hands of High Point on Saturday afternoon at the Templeton Center. Nyah Willis totaled a game-high 13 points as Tionna Carter had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Sharp Inks Three-Year Extension
Presbyterian College women's basketball coach Alaura Sharp has signed a three-year contract extension, as announced Tuesday by Athletics Director Rob Acunto. Sharp is in her fourth season at the helm of the Blue Hose women's basketball as PC is 8-10 and 3-5 in the Big South during the current 2021-22 campaign.
 
Last Five Games...
Over the Blue Hose last five games, Jade Compton is leading the Blue Hose with 15.6 points/game and 7.0 rebounds/game. Tionna Carter is averaging 12.8 points/game and Maleia Bracone rounds it out for PC with 12.6 ppg... Compton has made 47.1% of her field goals over the last five... Bracone has made a team-high 11 threes for the Blue Hose... The Blue Hose totaled 56 assists over the last five led by Bracone and Nyah Willis with 14 assists apiece.
 
Blue Hose in the Ranks...
In league play, Jade Compton is third in the league in rebounding with 9.0 rebounds/game. She is also tied for ninth in scoring with 16.3 points/game. Nyah Willis is sixth in league games with 3.4 assists/game... Overall throughout the 2021-22 season, Compton is sixth in scoring with 15.6 ppg and is seventh in rebounds at 7.2 a game... Maleia Bracone ranks seventh in the conference with 32 made three-pointers...
 
Double-Doubles in 2021-22...
Maleia Bracone picked up her second career double-double against Campbell on Wednesday night with 13 points and 10 rebounds. She's the third Blue Hose player to record a double-double this season as Jade Compton had a pair so far in league play against CSU (12 pts, 10 rebs) and Longwood (32 pts, 15 rebs). Nyah Willis had a pair of double-doubles in non-conference play against St. Thomas (15 pts, 11 rebs) and Vanderbilt (16 pts, 12 rebs)...
 
Field Goal Shooting...
PC ranks sixth in the Big South in shooting percentage at 40%. It is highlighted by three games of 50% or higher including a season-high 54.8% against ETSU during PC's four-game win streak earlier this season. Presbyterian has shot 41.5% or higher in 10 of the 18 games during the 2021-22 season.
 
Field Goal Defense...
PC also ranks third in shooting defense among Big South teams allowing just 39.2% of opponents field goals thru 18 games.
 
Scouting the Eagles...
Winthrop comes into Tuesday matchup with a 3-15 record following a 21-point victory over UNC Asheville on Saturday. J'Mani Ingram leads the Eagles with 12.1 ppg while Myra Strickland has added 10.4 points per game throughout the 2021-22 season. Winthrop ranks fourth in the league in rebounding with 36.1 per/game.
