Moorhead Leads Attack in Defeat at Radford

RADFORD, Va. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team wrapped up its first Big South road trip of the season with a 3-0 setback (22-25, 17-25, 22-25) at Radford inside the Dedmon Center on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Hose were led offensively by Rylee Moorhead with nine kills as she also tallied seven digs in the defeat.

How it Happened
- Radford got the early edge with a quick 3-1 lead on Saturday before the Blue Hose scored six of the next seven points to push in front at 7-4. The hosts responded with eight of the next 10 points to push back ahead 12-9. Both teams stayed tight leading to a 15-14 Highlanders lead at the media break. Neither team was able to create much separation till a 4-0 burst pushed the hosts in front 22-19. PC got it to 22-23 but back-to-back points allowed Radford to take set one 25-22. 
- The hosts jumped out to an early 5-2 lead before PC scored four of the next five points to even the set at six apiece. Radford pushed in front on a 6-1 run to take a 12-7 advantage in the set forcing PC to take a timeout. The Highlanders were able to push the margin to seven, 17-10 which forced a second timeout from Presbyterian. PC was able to cut it to 21-16 before the Highlanders scored four of the final five points to take set two 25-17. 
- The Highlanders jumped on PC quickly in the third set with the first four-point to spur an early Blue Hose timeout. Presbyterian was able to whittle the deficit to one, 12-11 following the early timeout which forced the hosts to spend one of their timeouts. PC was able to tie the set at 14 before four unanswered points allowed Radford to pull in front 18-14. PC got it down to 18-15 before the hosts tallied the next four points to push back to a seven-point lead in the set. PC was able to cut it to a 23-20 score before the hosts grabbed the sweep of the match on Saturday afternoon. 
 
Notables
- Moorhead led the team with nine kills as she's now totaled a team-high 39 kills in the Blue Hose four conference matches this season.
- Hailey Grocholski filled the stat sheet with six kills on 11 swings along with a pair of aces and three blocks. She leads the team in blocks with 34 on the season following her three on Saturday afternoon.
- Kinsey Bailey led the team with 18 assists marking her 15th match of the season with 10+ helpers. Bailey also added eight digs along with a block and kill to her stat line.
- Jordan McAda totaled five kills on 14 swings without an error to finish with a .357 hitting percentage. McAda also added three digs and an assist.
- Anna Hewitt totaled a team-high 13 digs as she continues to move closer to 1,000 digs in her career. Hewitt returns to Clinton on Friday night with 942 in her Blue Hose career. 
 
Up Next
- The Blue Hose return home for a pair of matches beginning on Friday, October 7th at 6 p.m. against UNC Asheville. PC is then set to battle Gardner-Webb at 6 p.m. on Saturday from Clinton.
