SPARTANBURG, S.C. – In a game that featured eight goals, Presbyterian's (7-2-2, Big South: 1-1-2) second half rally fell short as the Blue Hose lost to the USC Upstate Spartans (3-5-3, Big South: 1-1-1), 5-3, on the road on Wednesday afternoon.

"It was a difficult game," Presbyterian coach
Jonathan Potter said. "I was proud of how our team clawed back into the game tying the score early in the second half. We just did not have enough left in the tank to overcome USC Upstate."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- USC Upstate scored the game's first two goals in a span of 17 seconds in the eighth minute. USC Upstate's Felipe Marty scored the first goal and Andrin Zumbuhl scored the second goal.
- Presbyterian's Gerard Lopez blasted a shot from 15-yards out that banged off the left post. Vidar Ragnarsson corralled the rebound and put the ball into the back of the net in the 21st minute cutting USC Upstate's lead in half. Ragnarsson's goal was his second of the season.
- The Spartans pushed their lead to 3-1 when Brody Williams converted on a penalty kick in the 39th minute.
- In the 47th minute, Presbyterian's Nile Nguidjol ended a long run with a beautiful scoring shot cutting the Spartans' lead to 3-2. Nguidjol's goal was his second of the season and the fourth of his career.
- In the 48th minute, Presbyterian tied the score at three when Jordan Johnson's pass found Iragi Kalala in the middle of the box. Kalala blasted a shot into the lower right corner of the goal for his first career goal.
- In the 57th minute, USC Upstate regained the lead for good on a goal by Xavi Wences. In the 63rd minute, Zumbuhl scored his second goal of the game making USC Upstate's final margin of victory, 5-3.

NOTABLES
- Presbyterian finished the game with 15 shots. Lopez recorded a team-high five shots. Kalala and Ndrin Maloku added two shots apiece to the Blue Hose's offensive attack. Johnson, Ragnarsson, Nguidjol, Carson Griffith, Niklas Hoener, and Nacho Gallego each contributed a shot to the Blue Hose's efforts.
- Goalkeeper James Dee recorded season-high seven saves including saving a USC Upstate penalty kick in the 23rd minute.
